Cree's commercial XLamp® XM-L2 LEDs once again set a milestone in LED industry performance. The new XLamp® XM-L2 LED delivers up to 186 lm/W at 350 mA and 25 °C, enabling performance levels that were achieved three years ago in laboratory light.
Based on Cree's revolutionary SC3 TechnologyTM next-generation platform, the new XLamp® XM-L2 LED achieves multiplier (lm/$) and 20% higher light efficiency than previous generation XLamp® XM-L products, helping lamps Manufacturers can get better lighting systems and lower costs with a smaller number of LED devices.
The new XLamp® XM-L2 LEDs are optimized for ultra-high lumen applications, including interior lighting, high bay lights and outdoor lighting. Compatible with previous generation XLamp® XM-L LED designs, the high-performance XLamp® XM-L2 LEDs are available in the same XM series package size (5 mm x 5 mm), allowing customers to easily integrate XLamp® XM-L2 LEDs into the current Some XM LED designs are designed to shorten the lamp design cycle and speed time to market.

Jeff Rogers, vice president of sales and marketing at Musco Sports Lighting, said: "The XLamp® XM-L2 can help us improve the performance of our existing XLamp® XM-L designs without changing the optical design or drive."
The XLamp® XM-L2 LED combines high efficacy with high drive current to achieve a very high light output of 1198 lm at 3A, 25 °C (light efficiency up to 116 lm/W). The XLamp® XM-L2 LED is the eighth product based on the Cree SC3 technology platform. Innovative technology platform uses Cree's advanced silicon carbide (SiC) technology to demonstrate superior performance in LED chip structure and fluorescence conversion, and to match the latest packaging technology to provide the industry's most advanced LED devices. .
Steve Walczak, Director of Engineering at Sternberg Lighting, said: "Each XLamp® XM-L2 LED effectively delivers hundreds of lumens of light output, helping us significantly reduce the use of LED devices in our designs. Fewer LEDs The number of components allows us to simplify design and production, ultimately reducing system cost for our end customers without sacrificing light output and light quality."
At 85 °C, XLamp® XM-L2 LEDs are available in 2700K-6200K color temperature options with minimum color rendering indices of 80, 85 and 90. At the same time, since the XLamp® XM-L2 LED is a follow-on upgrade to the XLamp® XM-L LED, only 3,000 hours of XLamp® XM-L2 LED LM-80 data is required for the ENERGY STAR® certification application. Rather than the usual 6000 hours of testing. The XLamp® XM-L2 LED is also UL listed and rated as Class 4.
