Although the current production schedule of TSMC LED chips will be postponed to the second quarter, TSMC has invested in LED packaging subsidiaries. In 2011, the focus will be on LED indoor lighting, and the cost will be reduced by 30% per year. It is expected that the cost in 2011 will be similar to that of LED packaging plants that generally use aluminum nitride materials.

According to Cai, as Cree and LED chips begin to cut prices in the first quarter, it is expected that the LED lighting market will have an early entry into the outbreak in the third quarter. However, whether the LED unit price will continue to decrease in 2011, it is still necessary to observe whether the TV backlight demand is revived, and LED price reduction will be an important driving force for the lighting market to take off.
